"This Oxford city centre school for boys until 13 years, and girls until end of Year 2, has excellent academics, music oozing from every corner, and stunning off-site facilities" Muddy Stilettos 2024.
CCCS is one of Oxford’s best-kept gems with a Prep School for boys aged 3 - 13, and a Co-ed Nursery and Pre-Prep. It was founded by Henry VIII in 1546 when he founded Christ Church and the Cathedral. Its central location means that it offers regular trips to local museums and community-based activities.
The School has an excellent reputation for providing a balanced, all-round education within a warmly nurturing environment. The small class sizes, close community, and committed staff ensure pupils are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. CCCS prides itself on exceptional academic and musical achievements - over 50% of boys achieved scholarships to leading secondary schools in 2024. Children can play a wide range of sports, including rugby, football, cricket, tennis, swimming, squash, athletics, hockey, basketball and badminton.
CCCS offers specialist musical training and boasts three outstanding choirs, one world-famous. All Cathedral Choristers receive a bursary equivalent to two-thirds of the fees to support their education at CCCS. It offers boarding for Cathedral Choristers, and flexi-boarding and occasional boarding for day boys aged 8 – 13.
The School offers a local mini-bus service to and from school during the week, wrap-around care and various curricular and after-school clubs. CCCS is a happy and safe community where children discover and develop their talents within the classroom and beyond.
