Handmade in Britain is a leading promoter of contemporary British craft. We champion and support outstanding designer-making talent that exists across the British Isles through contemporary craft and design events, an online marketplace, and virtual events programs.
From its inception in 2007, we have stayed true to our original goal of promoting the finest design and craft practitioners in the UK, through fairs, events, and pop-ups. A dedicated online marketplace was established in 2019 which came into its own during the Covid lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 when we seamlessly introduced “Virtual Fairs” for our makers and customers alike.
As well as retail opportunities, workshops and business mentoring are also key to our mission to support designer-maker communities. By increasing accessibility, creating new market opportunities, and maintaining the highest standards in the contemporary craft sector, we continue to grow and expand whilst raising our profile within the industry and beyond.
Handmade Oxford, The International Contemporary Crafts Festival
Handmade Oxford, The International Contemporary Crafts Festival is back after two years. Taking place at the prestigious Waterperry Gardens, this edition of Handmade Oxford will have an open-air festival feel over four days.
You will be able to browse and shop exclusive British craft, participate in a packed program of craft workshops, and watch live demonstrations hosted by our expert designer-makers. An eco-living section will be present with sustainable products and there will be opportunities to listen to talks from a range of experts. Makers will be on hand throughout the weekend to explain their work and showcase their unique collections.
Visitors will also have the added advantage of access to Waterperry’s beautiful historic gardens plus artisan food and drinks will be available. With a chance to test and try treats before purchase, the artisan area will provide an opportunity to buy and enjoy artisan products.
