The award-winning North Wall Arts Centre opened in 2007, and brings together artists and audiences from Oxford and beyond to make, share and experience art of the highest quality.
Its 200-seat theatre, converted from a Victorian swimming pool, is a cosy, welcoming space to see performances up close; whilst the more modern purpose-built gallery and studio spaces are airy and light-filled. The venue’s public programme places an emphasis on contemporary work, amplifying diverse voices and providing a platform for untold stories.
Alongside its programming, The North Wall has a mission to support artists through its ArtsLab programme, which offers established and early-career artists the chance to develop and showcase new work through residencies, mentorship and training.
Situated in leafy Summertown two miles north of Oxford city centre, The North Wall also has a year-round participation programme, with offers opportunities for children, young people and families to get creative. There’s free stay and play sessions alongside family shows each month, along with outdoor performances and the chance to take part in Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival.
A night out at The North Wall can feature anything from critically-acclaimed drama, direct from the Edinburgh Fringe festival, to experimental work by early career theatre-makers. Comedy fans will delight in regular stand-up nights curated by Jericho Comedy, plus some of the biggest names on the touring circuit. There’s also a regular programme of music, dance, and free exhibitions.
