anatomē is a brand inspired by the apothecaries of the past. Their London boutique is a modern take on these old-fashioned stores and its shelves are filled with bottles of natural preparations and wellbeing remedies, from Sensory Point Sleep Oil to probiotic supplements.
Their new range of fragrances builds on the science which demonstrates the impact of scent on our brain, aromachology, and its capacity to ignite neural signals to our emotional centre. We all know that fragrance has a unique ability to evoke mood and memory, and anatomē has explored this to create a collection of six blends, each designed to trigger a different mood state.
Focus uses invigorating natural extracts including black and green pepper and the spice-filled notes of cardamon and nutmeg to kick-start the senses.
Energy leans into the citrus family; lemon, grapefruit, mandarin and bergamot play with neroli and mint.
Balance is anchored around the velvety familiarity of rose, tempered with warm woods and balsamic black spruce.
Support is designed to instil a sense of security and is a herbaceous cocktail of greenery including watermint, parsley, coriander and at its base, the deeper scents of tree and oak moss.
Order is described as a ‘blank canvas’ parfum. The overwhelming sensation is that of warmth and comfort. The clean notes including white tea, matcha, sandalwood and orris root.
If you twist my arm and make me pick a favourite I have to go with Expression, which supports breathing, self-care and communication. It blends the invigorating lick of sea salt, seaweeds and moss with honeyed woody notes from hinoki, guaiac and cedarwood. The combination makes me feel assured, grounded and just a little bit sexy, thanks to animalic, musky patchouli giving a sensual depth at its heart. It’s become my fragrant equivalent of a slick of red lipstick: an instant confidence booster – one spritz and I’m my best self.
