Cowley Road Carnival is making a vibrant return after five years on Sunday 1 September.
This much-loved day of celebration, art and culture will be returning to Cowley Road, Oxford with the theme Our Nature, Our Future. The event emphasises environmental sustainability, encouraging participants to use recycled materials for costumes and eco-friendly floats.
Artistic Director Pax Nindi announced a series of exciting pre-carnival events, including the Mas Camp Programme in August, where the community designed costumes in line with the carnival’s environmental theme. There will be house floats, street parties, and a diverse range of performances, from live music to dance and drama.
Board member Alex Singleton expressed his excitement, saying, "I cannot stop smiling knowing we will be doing what we last did in 2019. As a local artist and parent, I am honoured to be part of this exciting rebirth."
Whether it’s participating in the procession, attending the pre-carnival events, or simply spreading the word, everyone is invited to get involved. Find out more here: Cowley Road Carnival
