This Spring we have welcomed a terrific exhibition ‘Nature’s Narratives’ which displays the sculpture of Julia Beer, Guadalupe Charlone, Veronica Dudley, Nick Foot, Liz Judge, Isabel Knowland, Anthony Lloyd and Maisa Stolz. The soft greenery and blossom is a foil to their folk and creatures and there is a booklet in the Library by the entrance to the garden with narratives about each piece – the stories behind them and whatever inspired the sculptors to make them. You can also read these on the current events page of our website.

We will be showing these works right through Oxfordshire Artweeks and until 29th June.

To add to the excitement we will also be holding our 2nd Summer Music Festival on Saturday afternoons in June 1, 8,15,22, hosting talented musicians to play Cuban jazz, period and classical music to those who buy tickets. (see website in May).

As those sculptures depart we welcome a group of ox sculptures made for our ‘Oxhibition’ to tie in with the Oxtrail that Sobell House will be putting all round Oxford. This will run from 6 July – 31 August.

The Autumn will bring ‘The Five Senses’ on display and then we hold our usual Christmas/Winter exhibition from mid November.

For those who haven’t been yet, come and explore and for those who have enjoyed many past exhibition, come and see what this year will bring you.

Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night, is one of the most popular annual celebrations in the United Kingdom. Observed on November 5th, it commemorates the blocking of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, during which a group of provincial English Catholics endeavoured to blow up the Houses of Parliament and assassinate King James I.
