Fairytale Farm's Illuminated Evenings return on Saturdays and Sundays from 8th October to 27th November 2022, with new attractions and eco-friendly lights.
Farm owner, Nick Laister, says: "Our illuminations return bigger and better for 2022. We have numerous new illuminated features this year, including a Musical House, a creature rising from an illuminated pond and a huge T-Rex! I am sure this will make our 2022 the most memorable display we have ever put on."
Fairytale Farm's illuminations are the original Oxfordshire light show, started in 2013 and designed by former Blackpool Illuminations boss Richard Ryan. New sections have been added each year to make this 10th display the most spectacular.
With the current energy crisis, Nick Laister explains that a significant investment in energy saving lights has been made: "This year the Fairytale Farm lights will be more energy efficient and eco-friendly than previous years as we have replaced large sections of the display with LED bulbs, which are the most efficient way of generating light available. Not only will the display use less energy to run than previous years, it will also be brighter and more colourful, so we are really excited for you to see them."
See the Giant’s Camera, The Extinct Band, Giant Party Poppers, and Light Fountains illuminated, walk through the Tunnel of Light and watch the Dancing Water Fountains with an accompanying light show. Snow White’s Castle and the Seven Dwarfs’ house will also be illuminated and will look spectacular, and you can see Jack’s Beanstalk rising into the night sky. But watch out for the dinosaur in the pond - you might just get wet!
Nick points out that the illuminations are free for daytime visitors to stay on and enjoy: "The farm will stay open until one hour after dusk every weekend, and daytime visitors can stay on and see the illuminations for free. We also operate a reduced admissions price from 3pm, which you can buy at admissions on arrival. The animal areas will close at dusk as the lights come on, so be sure to arrive in good time so you don't miss all that Fairytale Farm has to offer in the daylight. The Beanstalk Cafe will be open throughout with a choice of hot and cold snacks."
As with previous years, the farm will also be running its 'Illuminations and Supper Deal', as Nick explains: "We also offer an all-in farm admission and food deal. Our ‘Illuminations and Supper’ Deal is available every weekend from 3pm for £9.75 per adult and £8.75 per child. This price gives evening entry to the Farm (with a chance to see the animals if you arrive promptly), a new choice of hot food and a drink in our Beanstalk Cafe, and then finish the evening with a stroll through the illuminated gardens after the lights switch on. A truly magical evening for the whole family. "
This year's supper has an improved choice of food compared to previous years:
- Jumbo hot dog with a proper sausage served in a whole baguette (half for children under 16), and a choice of with or without onions;
- Home-made soup with crusty roll and butter; or
- Jacket potato with baked beans (vegan and gluten free), a real winter warmer.
