Got a Dad who loves cars? The British Motor Museum has everything you need to give him the day out he deserves.
With over 400 vehicles spanning the classic, vintage and veteran eras, the Museum offers any car-loving Dad an unforgettable journey through the evolution of British motoring. Explore two Museum buildings, seeing both the histories of the cars, and the people behind them, with loads to see and do.
Delve into the changing fortunes of the motor industry in Britain through “Making British Cars”, uncovering the changing fortunes of some of Britain’s most well-known car companies, brought to life by archive images and artefacts. Explore “Design and Concepts”, home to an array of prototype vehicles such as the Triumph Lynx, which never made it into production. You can even see the offices of Herbert Austin and William Morris, where two icons of the British motor industry worked, each perfectly preserved from their former homes.
Included in the price is the chance to explore the Collections Centre where your Dad can take in the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection and look over the viewing balcony to get a glimpse behind the scenes in the Restoration Workshop.
Those visiting the Museum on Father's Day itself, can also enjoy the spectacle of 500 vintage and veteran motorcycles at the annual Vintage Motor Cycle Club's Banbury Run. It’s the biggest gathering of motorcycles and three-wheelers produced before 1931 and makes for a wonderful spectacle. There will be plenty of viewing areas for you to cheer the motorcyclists on as they embark on their journey to and from Banbury.
