Graven Hill opens the door to Custom Build New Homes

Graven Hill, one of the country’s most innovative self-build and custom build villages, is holding its first ‘Hard Hat’ event of 2019 on 26 January.

The event will give visitors the chance to view the custom build new homes that are currently under construction and look around the site to get a feel for how their ideas could be translated into bricks and mortar. Sensible shoes will be a must!

The event will focus on Graven Hill’s custom build new homes, aimed at people who perhaps don’t have the time to build their property from scratch, but still want to have control over the layout and design.

Members of the public will also be able to experience everything Graven Hill has to offer and see how their lives in the village could look. They will be able to chat to experts about making their dream home a reality, take part in a tour around the construction site to experience the progress made so far, and look at available houses, all of which will be available to reserve on the day and are eligible for Help to Buy.

Graven Hill itself is a pioneering housing development, situated on the outskirts of Bicester in Oxfordshire. Offering something never seen before to the housing market, emphasis is placed on creating homes that are individual and highly customised. Alongside the custom build new homes, Graven Hill also offers buyers the chance to secure a plot and create their own dream house.

Karen Curtin, managing director at Graven Hill, said: “Buying – or building – a home is such an important step for so many people and we believe that having the choice to customise the interior or design a property which ticks all of your boxes couldn’t be more important. Most of us will have experienced it before: finding a house in the perfect location, but having to make compromises on the essentials, such as layout and design.

“We’re trying to change the way people approach buying a property, putting the power back into the hands of the purchaser. Whether that’s through custom build or through self-build, the end result is a property that works. Our ‘Hard Hat’ event will be the perfect opportunity for visitors to understand a little more about what a future at Graven Hill could look like, as well as see first-hand our custom build new homes and learn how their own dreams could be translated into reality.

“We hope to see lots of people there and look forward to sharing our vision.”

ABOUT GRAVEN HILL

Graven Hill is the UK’s largest self-build and custom build community.

The first-of-its-kind site is based in Bicester and will house up to 1,900 beautiful and unique homes which are due to be built over the next 10 years. The development is set to revolutionise the way in which properties are designed and built by offering a flexible alternative to the usual routes. The plots will be surrounded by open, green spaces including woodland, allotments and a network of cycle and footpaths connecting to the town centre and local transport links, including one-hour train services to London. The village will also have a primary school and retail space. Graven Hill prides itself on making dream homes that are out of the ordinary, a reality for many.

The pioneering project is the vision of Cherwell District Council and spans 188 hectares of former Ministry of Defence land. Cherwell District Council is leading the way with its approach to housing provisions and is the fastest provider of new homes in the UK.
