DARREN GREENHOW AT LEANDER

Do you crave original art and beautiful craftsmanship? Then the Henley Arts Trail offers the perfect way to spend your Early May Bank Holiday. It’s an adventure in creativity that goes far beyond a typical art exhibition.

Meander through the picturesque towns and villages in the Thames Valley near Henley to explore 31 unique locations, many not typically open to the public. Art comes alive in unexpected venues – from working studios and vineyards to a distillery. Discover pieces displayed in a stately home, riverside museum, and even the world-famous Leander Club on the banks of the Thames.

What makes this trail truly special is the personal connection with 280 local artists eager to share their creative journeys. Meet internationally acclaimed masters alongside emerging talents showcasing their work for the first time. Each piece of art is enhanced by knowing the story of the person behind the work and understanding how it was made. As a non-profit event, charging no commission, all proceeds go directly to the creators making prices surprisingly affordable while supporting the artistic community.

Pause along the way to savour delicious treats in picturesque settings; sample homemade cakes in a garden gallery, drinks overlooking the river at the Leander Club, or treat yourself to an award-winning Sunday roast at the Plough in Shiplake.

Best of all? It’s free. (The only exception being National Trust’s Greys Court for non-members.) Planning your adventure is effortless with online maps and walking routes between clustered venues in Henley, Shiplake, and Twyford. Preview artists’ work on the website to plan your visit, focusing on pieces that captivate you most. All this is available on henleyartstrail.com
