Iffley Residential and Nursing Home

divider

Situated in the picturesque Iffley village, Sanctuary Care’s Iffley Residential and Nursing Home boasts beautiful gardens in a tranquil setting.

The team are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and provide residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care. They also provide respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for carers in the community looking after a loved one at home, who would like to plan a short break themselves to recharge the batteries.

A thriving home

The team spend time getting to know their residents, what they love to do and what brings them joy. There were beaming smiles recently when the gardens were transformed into a miniature farm for the day, with gorgeous lambs, chicks, a tiny pony to pet and even guinea pigs to see!

The team are also passionate about keeping residents connected to the community outside their home, so organise trips out in the home’s minibus to local attractions. This summer some of the residents ventured over to the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, where they loved seeing everything from lions to giraffes.

There is so much to do at Iffley, from gardening and baking sessions, games, movies in the cinema room to pamper sessions. Our residents have also recently loved celebrating ‘chocolate day’, where they sampled flavours galore and enjoyed strawberries dipped in chocolate in the gardens, with a glass of wine, listening to a pianist.

There is a hairdressing salon, for regular appointments with the home’s hairdresser, and a bar area, where the residents enjoy quizzes and games with their favourite tipple.

Food glorious food

The residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, with everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays. And there is always home-baking for afternoon tea and lighter bites for those with a smaller appetite.

There is also a café area, which is a popular spot for residents to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. And if they can’t be there is person, Iffley has its own private Facebook group for family and friends, filled with photographs and videos of what the residents have been enjoying doing.

Glorious gardens

There are raised flower beds, which enable green-fingered residents, including those in wheelchairs to continue enjoying a much-loved hobby. There is also a courtyard area, with a water feature, trellised area, seating and a barbecue.

There is a beautiful large garden and two smaller courtyard gardens, which have wheelchair friendly pathways and raised beds, for those who enjoy a spot of gardening. All of the bedrooms, which are spacious and ensuite, on the ground floor have patio doors leading to the gardens.

How to Banish Houseplant Pests

Houseplants can add life, greenery, and health benefits to our homes but they also sometimes attract unwanted guests – tiny pests that can wreak havoc on your beloved flora.  We were lucky enough to get advice from Tom Cook who is the Houseplant Buyer for British Garden Centres.
