Inspiring Minds Since 1683

The Ashmolean Museum

divider

Based in the heart of Oxford, and Britain’s first public museum, the Ashmolean Museum has been inspiring minds since 1683. Free to all and open every day, the Ashmolean offers something for everyone. Their collections cover half a million years of human history and creativity, from ancient Egyptian mummies to modern art, and much more.

Alongside their world-famous collections are a series of major ticketed exhibitions. These include Money Talks (until 5 January) which looks at the art of global currency and the depiction of money in art, featuring artists including Banksy, Warhol, and Guerrilla Girls.

In February, Anselm Kiefer: Early Works will celebrate Kiefer’s 80th year and will be the first UK exhibition to explore the early output of one of the most significant artists working today.

From just £48 a year you can become a Member of the Ashmolean and enjoy these renowned exhibitions – and more to be announced soon – for free, as many times as you’d like. Members also enjoy exclusive previews, and a specially curated programme of events designed to get you closer to the eclectic collections, as well as shopping and dining discounts, and a Members’ Magazine.

If you have a loved one who enjoys history and art, why not treat them to an Ashmolean Gift Membership this Christmas? Available in individual or joint formats, these gift memberships will allow friends or family to delve deeper into their passions, whilst directly helping the Museum to continue to share its treasures and expertise with generations to come.

There’s plenty more to see and do at the Ashmolean, too. The Ashmolean shop features a wide range of products from an ever-growing list of UK-based artisan makers, inspired by and curated to accompany the Museum’s collections and renowned exhibitions. You’ll find a range of exclusive collections, as well as a carefully curated selection of books, stationery, homewares, jewellery, accessories, textiles and children’s gifts. Every purchase supports the Museum, and Members receive a 10% discount on purchases, as well as access to an annual exclusive shopping week.

Visitors are also able to enjoy delicious food looking out over the beautiful views from the Museum’s Rooftop Restaurant and Terrace; the perfect spot to soak in the pleasure of a delightful lunch or an indulgent afternoon tea. The Café is the place to head to for freshly baked pastries, cakes, hot and cold drinks, and lunch dishes. Members receive a discount in both venues.

With a packed programme of talks, workshops and exclusive Members events including curator talks and gallery tours, the Ashmolean is the ideal place for everyone to come together and share their stories, ideas and experiences.
