Neil Scott is a craftsman who enjoys mixing traditional and organic creativeness with techniques that echo modern day construction methods, creating work that has a distinctly structural feel.
He creates unique, hand-crafted wooden furniture using exotic and home-grown hardwoods. Each piece is inspired by the provenance of the wood, and the design process focuses on allowing the wood's natural character and form to dictate the finished piece. Incorporating metal, resin and glass, his designs are bold, tactile and highly distinctive. With quality and sustainability as his guide, he offers functional, aesthetically pleasing furniture that is a lifestyle choice.
Neil tells us "The principle motivation behind working with reclaimed wood is to give a noble and discarded object second life, whilst maintaining a respect for the natural wood and its resources. What characterises my approach is an interest in the story of the tree, with an open acknowledgement of the imperfection in the wood, I cherish and celebrate its history".
He continues "My particular love is tables, I believe the table is an integral part of any home, where all the joys of life are shared and around which generations tell their stories. I source each piece of timber mindfully, feeling and working with it in the knowledge that it is ever evolving, constant and timeless. I am passionate about creating beautiful, bespoke, contemporary for homes, offices or retail environments".
