OBH Point-to-Point at Lockinge Racecourse

divider

Looking for something to do on Easter Monday as a family. The Old Berks point to point takes place at Lockinge OX12 8PA on Easter Monday, 1st April. The course is just South of Wantage and easily accessed from Newbury, Oxford, Swindon and the surrounding areas.

Gates open at 10:30 and there are a range of attractions in addition to the racing; about 35 trade stands which include a good choice of food and drink outlets plus a funfair for children, a dog show and terrier racing starting at 11.30, and a parade of hounds at 1pm.

The racing starts with two pony races at 12:15 followed by 6 races from 2:00 on which betting is allowed. The event closes at 6:30.

Although the rain has resulted in several point to points having to be postponed or cancelled, and some rather miserable weekends for many of us, the Lockinge course is on chalk and thus drains incredibly well, as does the car park overlooking it. Entries for the day are at a record high and everyone is welcome to get out into the countryside on this Easter Monday and enjoy this great traditional and popular pastime.

Tickets for the day can be bought online for £15 until 30th March inclusive via the website www.obhpointtopoint.co.uk. For children under 14 entry is free which is via Gate 1 to the course.
