Spend Spooky Season at Stonor Park

divider

Spooky stories and wicked witches are at the heart of Stonor Park’s spine-tingling Halloween event, The Moon Witch’s Halloween Adventure.

Taking place from Wednesday 18th until Sunday 29th October, the 850-year-old estate near Henley-on-Thames encourages brave explorers to follow the trail at Tumblestone Hollow adventure playground, where they can decipher clues and uncover secrets, completing the trail in Stonor’s formal gardens and receiving a spook-tacular edible prize.

Visitors can sink their teeth into traditional Halloween pumpkin carving, choosing their favourite from the dedicated Pumpkin Patch. Make use of the family-friendly carving tools at the craft table - with interesting shapes and fun faces children can create their ghoulish carvings whilst Stonor takes care of the mess, so all parents have to do is sit down and enjoy being creative.

For added fun, children can try out temporary tattoos or listen to readings from Stonor Park’s Tumblestone Tales by the mesmerizing Moon Witch. The Legend of Tumblestone Hollow and The Moon Witch and The Thief tell the story of the playground’s magical characters, how they discovered their world and how they’re tasked to protect the magical stones from evil hands.

Lord Camoys, custodian of Stonor Park, said: “The end of October is a wonderful time here, where lots of magical things happen – perfect for Halloween! There’s a beautiful golden hue everywhere, with crisp autumnal leaves and the majestic sight of rutting deer in the parkland so there is already magic in the air with the change of season.

“The Moon Witch’s Halloween Adventure has been very popular with parents and children in recent years. With a trail to complete, lots of places to explore and a vast adventure playground to enjoy, it’s become one of our biggest events and something we look forward to putting on every year.”

Once tummies start to rumble, Tumblestone Hollow’s shepherd's hut serves authentic pizzas with mouth-watering toppings, cooked in a wood-fire Gozney oven. Try handmade burgers, made from local organic longhorn beef, freshly made creamy hot chocolates, traditional toffee apples, and Italian ice cream with other refreshments also available.

“Whilst Tumblestone Hollow is a wonderful opportunity to let off steam and enjoy the great outdoors, we hope the event is also a chance to get creative with pumpkin carving and spark imaginations with the Tumblestone Tales, which can be purchased in the Visitor’s Centre so the fun can be taken home too,” added Lord Camoys.

The Moon Witch’s Halloween Adventure is open from 9:30am to 5pm, with pumpkin carving taking place every 30 minutes.

Tickets purchased in advance are discounted, starting from £9.50. Pumpkin Carving requires an additional ticket for £7.
