This autumn, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) are challenging us raise money and help restore nature across its three counties.

This year’s Big Wild Walk takes place between 21 October and 3 November to coincide with the half term holidays. As BBOWT’s Community Engagement Director Liz Shearer points out, “This challenge is the perfect chance to plan your autumn adventure and take it at your own pace…While you’re on your walk, listen out for wintering birds and spot mushrooms growing among the trees, all against the orange, bronze and red autumn backdrop. It’s a great opportunity to raise money for The Wildlife Trusts, including BBOWT, to help us create more nature everywhere, for everyone.”

Whether you undertake a stroll around the local village or a long-distance hike in the countryside, it offers a wonderful opportunity to take time out to appreciate the opulence of autumn’s majesty. Plus, there is the added benefit of knowing that the funds you raise by getting sponsored will support wildlife recovery and contribute to BBOWT’s mission to see 30% of land well managed for nature by 2030.

Sign up at wildlifetrusts.org/bigwildwalk to receive a fundraising pack containing a sponsorship sheet, distance-tracking form and social media post cues. Further, all participants are actively encouraged to nominate friends and family to join in, with the hashtag, #NominateForNature.

There are 46 Wildlife Trusts across the UK, each working to achieve the shared aim of securing a better future for wildlife.
