Tythe Barn Wedding Showcase 2023

Wedding couples often refer to the Most Beautiful Venue in the World as their home because they feel completely relaxed there. Tythe, founded over 20 years ago by owners Will and Emma Deeley, offers couples a wedding venue that’s about as close to ‘home’ as you could get. Emma recently announced the date for Tythe’s ever-popular ‘Venue Showcase’ where couples can see in person all Tythe has to offer.

Emma explained “We’re inviting couples to Tythe, on Sunday 29th January 2023, where they’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a private tour of the estate, chat with some of our dedicated planners, sip cocktails by the outdoor wood-burners and dive into a selection of freshly prepared treats from our onsite chef.”

Tythe continues to stand out as one of the best barn wedding venues in the country and now boasts the addition of the luxurious, boutique Farmhouse – a sprawling country manor with an eclectic mix of antique pieces alongside Insta-worthy interiors. The house has been home to the Deeley family for over five Centuries but in September 2021 Emma took on the role of re-imagining and re-designing the home to provide Tythe couples with their very own country pad. “The renovation was a huge project and with the 17th century Farmhouse being Listed and with limited time to turn the property around, we faced multiple challenges, but the result is incredible and the whole team are super proud of what we’ve achieved,” remarked Emma.

“The beauty of Tythe, with the addition of the 7 ensuite double-bedroomed Farmhouse, is that couples can now do everything onsite and enjoy the company of their family and friends in the privacy of the entire estate over a couple of days! Oh, did I mention there’s also a Shepherd Hut, complete with wood-burner, kitchenette and ensuite?”

The showcase at the end of January will allow couples the chance to wander through the boutique Farmhouse complete with Champagne bar, tennis court and a wood-fuelled hot tub. Across the manicured gardens, punctuated with festoons and through the pretty garden gate and wisteria clad pergola, couples will discover the 14th Century cluster of barns that provide a charming backdrop for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, the Wedding Reception, evening cocktails and party.

Bathed in fairy lights, the timber beams and Cotswold stone walls create a stylish and elegant setting. There’s also St. Mary’s, the 14th Century village church next door - which along with the farm’s flock of sheep and vintage Landrover for pre-ceremony drinks – wraps up this dreamy rustic wedding venue success story.

Many couples in search of their wedding venue will have noticed that this time of year is prime hunting season. Most venues are opening up their doors for showcases whilst the calendars of couples, newly engaged during the Christmas and New Year period, will be filling up pretty quickly! Emma highlights, however, why Tythe’s Showcase will be holding something rather special up it’s rural sleeve – “Will and I have been running Tythe for over 20 years and during that time we’ve learnt pretty much all there is to know about planning and hosting weddings. I felt like doing something a little different for this open day and the decision to structure our showcase by appointment only, rather than the usual ‘free for all’ at many venue open days, means that I can spend some quality time with the couples who visit.”

Emma explains “I’m going to be hunkering down in The lounge at The Farmhouse, with it’s huge open fireplace, cosy sofas and trays of Fizz, where I will be holding a number of private Q&A sessions with small groups to pass on my ‘top secret’ insider tips alongside advice on planning a barn wedding.” For couples who are at the start of their wedding journey, to have a ‘tete a tete’ with the owner of such an established venue, is rather exceptional but then Tythe has always been one step ahead and is renowned for it’s attention to detail. Emma also points out that “our award-winning team will also be on hand to shower you with ideas, inspiration and some seriously good advice for your wedding planning!”

Foodies don’t need to worry - with Absolute Taste as the in-house caterer - couples can look forward to some seriously good grub with, as you might expect from this working farm, an emphasis on fresh, seasonal and local produce. AT, as their known in house, have worked with some of the best in the business and can serve up an elegant five-course feast through to a seriously social, sharing platter. If pizzas served up on chunky wooden boards by the outdoor wood-burners is more your thing then Tythe has it’s very own wood-fired oven, of course! There’s also a rather fine Cocktail Menu. Once you’ve toured the estate and venue and had your fill from the insanely stylish Farmhouse kitchen, you may choose to sit down with one of Tythe’s dedicated planners or perhaps pick out your favourite bedroom for your wedding night.  Emma is keen to add that “the Open Day is all about offering couples the time to take in our fabulous surroundings and have the opportunity to dip their toes in the elegantly rural world of Tythe.”

As one of Oxfordshire’s coolest family-run venues, couples can expect a simple, honest and authentic (hidden) gem that’s central location means it’s a great destination to bring family and friends together from different ends of the UK. Tythe is close to London and within striking distance of the Cotswolds and with 2 well-connected mainline stations only 5 minutes away, guests will be able to make the dash from city to field or rock up from Cornwall or the Cairngorns pretty darn easily!

Marriage, Birth, Death. Everyone does the last two. Most of us probably do the first. In my job as a Marriage Registrar I’ve had the honour to conduct so many marriages I’ve lost count. In my life, I’ve also had the honour to be present at a birth or two. And sadly a death or two. But perhaps the biggest honour of my life was when I conducted a marriage which was, in the end, also a death.
